Who is the product suitable for?
Bridge cameras, such as the Canon PowerShot SX 430 IS, are suitable for photographers who appreciate the functional features of SLR cameras but don’t like to be held up by changing lenses. This is not necessary with the SX 430 IS, which has a built-in zoom lens with a very long focal length range. This means that almost all photo situations can be covered. This is also an advantage when travelling. Since no manual settings are necessary, the camera is particularly suitable for beginners who do not need the image quality of a higher-quality SLR camera.
Strengths and weaknesses
The lens of the Canon camera covers a focal length range of 24 to 1,080 millimetres, replacing both a wide-angle and a telephoto lens. The 45x optical zoom allows you to capture details of more distant objects. The camera does not have an optical viewfinder, but the subject is controlled via a 3-inch display. Unfortunately, this cannot be folded or rotated, making it easier to shoot from particular angles. On the other hand, macro photographers benefit from a close-up limit of 0 centimetres, which is basically non-existent. In adverse light situations, a built-in flash with a range of up to 5 metres provides more light. While photos have an excellent resolution of 5,152 x 3,864 pixels, the resolution of videos only reaches up to 1,280 x 720 pixels in HD.
Price-performance ratio
If you can do without manual settings and video recordings in Full HD, the PowerShot SX 430 IS is an easy-to-use bridge camera with essential features.
