Pros
- Surround sound
- Two HDMI 2.1 inputs
- Integrated streaming functions
Cons
- Quite expensive
The fact that the Sony HT-A7000 soundbar is 130 centimetres long is due to the generous number of speakers. Five front speakers and two woofers are directed directly to the front. Two speakers simulate the sound from the ceiling, and two tweeters produce the sound from the sides. For reliable functioning, automatic calibration takes place. The distances to the walls and, thus, the path for the sound reflection can be determined to obtain a surround system virtually. This sounds most realistic when smooth walls are available in a relatively regularly shaped room. This is less successful in an open living room. All the essential connections, including two HDMI 2.1 for 8K or 4k with 120 hertz, are available. In addition, there are a few streaming options, from integrated Spotify to Chromecast and AirPlay.
In most cases, however, the connected TV offers all these options. At this price, the price set by Sony is on the level of a surround system. However, the space and effort required to set it up are much smaller.
