Oppo’s relaunch in France also means the return of ColorOS, its Android overlay. Over the past two years, it has grown indistinguishable from OnePlus’s OxygenOS—arguably an improvement.
Fluid and intuitive, ColorOS is easy to navigate and promises five years of OS updates (less than Google and Samsung’s seven years, but still good). It leans heavily on Google’s suite for core apps. The phone also includes handy AI tools (like Magic Eraser-style features, note summarisation, and voice transcription) and a “remove reflections” function for photos, albeit with mixed success.
“Dynamic” Notifications
Mirroring Apple’s Dynamic Island, Oppo has introduced small pop-up alerts around the display’s hole-punch for timer or torch use. It’s not essential but is a neat trick.
Touch to Share
Via NFC, “Touch to Share” allows file transfers with iOS/iPadOS 15 devices—though your contact must install a specific Oppo app and grant multiple permissions, limiting its convenience.

Powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage, the Oppo Find X8 Pro sits among the top flagships. Benchmarks confirm it outperforms older high-end SoCs, though not quite matching the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro.
In actual use, it breezes through heavy tasks and games like Genshin Impact, maintaining near-60 fps with minimal throttling. Overall, expect top-notch speed and responsive multitasking.
Photo Quality: A Comprehensive Toolkit
Equipped with four 50MP sensors—wide-angle, ultra-wide, 3x telephoto, and 6x telephoto—the Oppo Find X8 Pro aims to rival premium phones like the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Its real-world performance is highly versatile, spanning zoom ratios from 0.6x to 120x. The phone quickly processes shots, and the final image closely matches the on-screen preview.
Colour bias tends to be warm and occasionally over-processed, similar to how Google Pixel intensifies micro-contrast. Details can appear slightly smoothed on close inspection. Meanwhile, night mode is decent but prone to occasional blur or painterly effects.
Still, the camera excels in day-to-day photography, and the phone’s broad lens selection and advanced features deliver a compelling photo experience.
Display: Excellent Calibration and High Brightness
The 6.78-inch OLED display at 2780 × 1264 resolution offers:

- Superb colour accuracy (delta E ~1.89 in sRGB, ~2.97 in DCI-P3)

Battery life is stellar, performance is reliably fast, and the display boasts top calibration and brightness. Five years of updates is solid, though behind Google or Samsung’s seven-year offers, and omitting the charger can be inconvenient.
Nevertheless, if those minor trade-offs don’t bother you, the Oppo Find X8 Pro ranks among the top Android smartphones available.
