With the RTX 4080, Nvidia has released the second card of the new Ada-Lovelace generation, and third-party manufacturers such as Zotac are again allowed to release variants with their cooling solutions and small liberties with the clock speed. The RTX 4080 outperforms its direct predecessor RTX 3080 by miles – this applies to the performance but, unfortunately, to the price. While the RTX 3080 celebrated its market debut at less than 1,000 euros, the Zotac version, for example, will cost an insane 1,750 euros at market launch. In terms of performance, the RTX 4080 is even more potent than the flagship model of the previous generation.
All modern games run smoothly in 4K with full details (over 60 FPS). At the same time, the energy efficiency is far better than that of the RTX 4080. For example, the TDP of the Zotac version is a humane 320 W for a high-end card. Zotac’s cooler is enormous and requires a lot of space in the case. However, it does its job impeccably. The noise level is OK: audible but not loud.
