Quick Specs
Our Verdict
The Abxylute N6 is a third-party docking controller for the Nintendo Switch 2 that wraps around the console as a replacement for the Joy-Cons. It offers turbo mode, macros, adjustable vibration, and a companion app for remapping. At €79, it is well-built and lag-free, but Nintendo’s locked USB-C port means firmware updates require a Windows PC.

Abxylute N6 Test: The Controller for Nomadic Players Who Know How to Cope
The brand abxylute offers accessories oriented for portable gaming. This concerns mobile gaming, portable consoles, and also the Nintendo Switch 2. Among the various projects and dedicated accessories, the abxylute N6 is one to look at — a controller for the Nintendo console that integrates directly on the console as a replacement for the Joy-Cons.
Technical Specifications
The Abxylute N6 is a third-party docking controller designed to wrap around the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Design: An Elegant and Modern Product
The abxylute N6 does not fall into the trap of many gaming products that integrate RGB lights everywhere. The controller nevertheless remains a modern product in its appearance and elegant. In some aspects, it even resembles certain portable PC consoles.
Mounting on the Switch 2
The N6 controller is therefore designed to wrap around the Nintendo Switch 2. To do so, it is necessary to remove the Joy-Cons from your Nintendo console. Then, you have to slide the screen of the latter into the controller and connect it directly via the USB-C port below.
Weight and Build
It is also a fairly light product in hand, not adding too much extra weight to that of the Nintendo console. However, you cannot get rid of a certain impression of fragility as the plastic is light.
Ergonomics: Efficiency First
For the controller support, abxylute does not reinvent the wheel but stays on an effective proposal. The button layout remains effective, falling well under the thumbs. There is even the presence of the C button to activate Game Chat. The grips on each side allow you to envelop each hand without the entire console weighing.
In-Game Use
In game, the pressure on the buttons is fairly standard, although a little noisy. For the rest, even the action buttons on the back fall fairly naturally under your fingers. On long sessions, the dock-shaped controller stays well in hand without problem.
Customisation: The Kingdom of Resourcefulness
In the software section, the abxylute N6 is undoubtedly not the most accessible controller on the market in terms of customisation. Most manipulations are done by a combination of buttons.
Turbo Mode
- Press M + Action button: activate Turbo
- Press again: Auto mode
- Press again: stop Turbo
Macros (Back Buttons)
- Hold M + Back button (2 sec) to start recording
- Enter your combo -> Press the back button again to stop
Vibration Adjustment
- Hold M + Up/Down on the right joystick to adjust intensity
- Levels: 100% – 70% – 40% – 0% (Default: 70%)
For this last one, the change in intensity is not always obvious especially upon receipt of the product. After a first update of the support, you can notice the difference. The advice: 40% is sufficient to not alter the gaming experience — beyond, it is really too disturbing.
A Non-Native Switch Product
This is one of the problems encountered by Nintendo Switch 2 accessory makers. As spotted by Linus Tech Tips, the manufacturer seems to have locked the USB-C port of its console.
The problem encountered by the abxylute N6 is therefore simple: it cannot be updated by the Nintendo console. You have to go through a male and female USB-C cable and connect the controller to your Windows PC to update via software sent by the manufacturer.
For example, during the 22.0.0 update, the joysticks did not work unless updated.
In short, it is not impossible that the controller may have to undergo an update from time to time via your Windows PC, if you have one.
A Companion Application
It is also possible to download a companion application called Keylinker to customise the buttons of your controller. You just need to connect your smartphone via Bluetooth to modify the joystick curves or even remap the buttons to your liking.
In-Game Use
Once plugged into the console, the controller emits a vibration indicating that it is well connected. No need to go through the synchronisation menu — you can directly launch a game.
Plug and Play
Due to the plug and play connection, there is no latency in the game.
Bugs Encountered
However, some bugs are to be regretted from time to time. On some Pokémon Pokopia sessions, the console had to be restarted since the controller had disconnected in the meantime. Nothing systematic, but a bug that can be disturbing from time to time.
Haptic Feedback
On some sequences, the haptic feedback, if not well calibrated, is frankly disturbing. For example, certain sequences in Hades II involving vibration can quickly throw you off completely. Nothing prohibitive provided you calibrate the controller.
Price and Availability
The abxylute N6 controller is available for pre-order on the manufacturer's site starting at €79.
