Sonic toothbrushes crowd the market, but the Happybrush Eco Vibe 3+ stands out with a very good cleaning result, plenty of power and long battery life. With this one, the daily brushing routine genuinely lives up to the brand name.

Dentists particularly recommend electric toothbrushes for removing plaque efficiently, thoroughly and quickly, with the technology doing most of the work. Three programmes — normal, sensitive, polish — are entirely sufficient (most people settle on one), with the active mode shown on a cleverly hidden display that lights up during use and vanishes afterwards. The waterproof housing in matt black is clean, modern and neutral.

The included charging station with USB-C connector is as clean as the design: a simple flat platform with no nubs, grooves or hollows for toothpaste drips to collect in, making it supremely easy to wipe. The travel lock — activated by holding the power button for five seconds — stops the brush waking in a suitcase, and with up to eight weeks of battery life the charger can confidently stay at home. The Eco Vibe 3+ is produced climate-consciously in Germany, with a housing of 100 per cent recycled plastic.

The Eco Vibe 3+ is often sold in assorted sets with various toothpastes and head counts, which is needlessly confusing. A pressure sensor would have been welcome — though it is absent from most sonic brushes.

The Happybrush Eco Vibe 3+ convinces across the board: powerful 41,000-vibration cleaning, up to eight weeks per charge, three sensible programmes, a travel lock, a genuinely clever charging station and sustainable German production.
