Design and Connectivity: Simple Yet Well-Equipped

The Hisense 55E7NQTUK Pro rests on two Y-shaped feet that fit into the base of the panel. The TV is about 7.5cm thick at its deepest point, tapering to just 1cm at its thinnest.

There is no option to adjust the spacing of the feet (a feature sometimes found on higher-end models), so you’ll need to ensure the TV’s 100cm stance and 30cm depth can fit on your current TV unit. The feet raise the screen by around 5.5cm above the furniture, which may require a thin soundbar or positioning one slightly forward so as not to obstruct the TV’s infrared receiver.

The TV’s plastic frame is slightly bevelled for a decent aesthetic effect. Because it’s pitched as a gaming-friendly series (“Pro”), there is a subtle design pattern on the lower part of the panel. If you prefer wall mounting, it is compatible with VESA 400×200 brackets.

Ports and Inputs

Around the back and side, you’ll find two HDMI 2.1 ports (one supporting eARC for routing audio to a soundbar or compatible amp), both capable of running at up to 144Hz in UHD resolution. There are also two HDMI 2.0 ports (max 4K at 60Hz). Furthermore, the TV supports FreeSync Premium (but not G-Sync), has two USB ports for multimedia playback, an audio/video input, a headphone jack, and an optical audio output. An Ethernet port is also present for those who prefer a wired connection, although Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules are included.

Most of these ports are side-oriented, making installation against a wall or within an entertainment centre more straightforward.

The Remote: Large Yet Comprehensive

Hisense provides a notably large remote with this TV, much bigger than those from Samsung or Sony. Made of plastic with pleasantly responsive buttons, it feels comfortable in hand. The one downside is the lack of backlighting. Interestingly, there are nine dedicated streaming service buttons (many brands only include three or four). One of these buttons can be customised, which is handy. Numeric keys are also present—something many manufacturers have phased out—allowing quick access to specific channels.

Picture and Sound: Modest Brightness but Wide HDR Support

Picture Quality

The Hisense 55E7NQTUK Pro uses an LCD panel with full-array LED backlighting, similar to what you’d find on certain mid-range Samsung models (like the 65Q70D). This arrangement helps manage contrast more effectively and reduces blooming—a halo effect around bright objects on dark backgrounds—though some minor blooming can still appear around subtitles or very bright subjects.

Viewing Angles
Viewing angles are limited. Blacks tend to wash out into grey, and colours can look faded when you move away from a central viewing position.

Colour Gradients and Motion
On the plus side, there’s no overt posterisation (where transitions between colours look blocky or banded), and fast-moving scenes remain smooth and free from notable judder or blur. The TV offers several image modes (Filmmaker, Cinema, Standard, Sport, Dynamic, Energy Saving), but Filmmaker Mode generally yields the most faithful result in line with a director’s intent.

When set to Filmmaker Mode with contrast management off (to standardise our tests), the colour accuracy is impressive for a budget/mid-range TV. We recorded an average Delta E of 1.75 (the lower, the better, with anything under 3 being almost imperceptible to the naked eye). Gamma averaged 2.28, very close to the ideal 2.4, and the average colour temperature was around 6603K (close to the ideal 6500K). These measurements are excellent for a TV in this price bracket.

HDR Performance
The TV supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ, with the latter using an ambient light sensor to adapt the brightness automatically. However, maximum brightness peaks at around 306 cd/m², which is half of what some competing mid-range models can achieve (e.g., Samsung’s 65Q70D). While this isn’t ideal for those seeking a very bright HDR picture, it might suffice in darker viewing environments. Colour accuracy remains commendably high in HDR, with an average Delta E of 1.83.

Sound Quality

Sound is delivered via two 10W speakers and a 20W subwoofer positioned at the back. Multiple audio presets are available (unlike some brands that limit you to a couple), but the integrated subwoofer doesn’t produce especially rich, punchy bass. Overall, the TV’s audio is fairly pleasant at moderate volumes, though pushing it to maximum can cause the chassis to vibrate. Anyone seeking deeper bass or more impactful sound should consider at least a dedicated soundbar with a separate subwoofer.

Gaming Performance: Excellent Responsiveness and Colour Accuracy

The 55E7NQTUK Pro is geared towards gamers, with two HDMI 2.1 ports supporting variable refresh rate (VRR) and a very low input lag of just 13.2ms. This near-instant feedback ensures minimal delay between your controller input and on-screen action. The set can handle 144Hz at 4K resolution and can even reach 240Hz in Full HD if needed.

Activating Game Mode allows you to retain Filmmaker or Cinema picture settings for superb colour accuracy while gaming. Hisense also includes modes dedicated to different game genres—Standard, FPS, RPG, RTS, Sport, and even one tailored for Black Myth: Wukong. A special “Game Bar” can be brought up to quickly adjust crucial gaming settings.

Smart Features: Vidaa U on Board

Like other Hisense televisions and projectors, the 55E7NQTUK Pro runs on Vidaa U. This interface comes with popular streaming apps pre-installed and suggests various content. It also includes gaming-oriented apps and well-organised settings menus. Accessibility features such as text-to-speech and hearing accommodations are available for those who need them.

  • TCL 55C805

Final Verdict: 7/10

Priced around €600 for the 55-inch version, the Hisense 55E7NQTUK Pro offers solid value for money. Yes, it’s relatively dim, making it best suited to darker viewing environments, but its default picture settings deliver impressively accurate colours for both film buffs and avid gamers alike.

HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ support, and local dimming help achieve respectable contrast levels. Gamers will appreciate the high refresh rate and well-implemented gaming features, along with accurate colour reproduction. Overall, if you’re seeking a versatile TV that doesn’t break the bank—and you can live with lower brightness—the 55E7NQTUK Pro is definitely worth a look.
