Ricoh already scored points with customers and testers with the GR III. However, the GR IIIx is not to be understood as a successor model. In many respects, both cameras are the same. There is one difference, however, in the lens. While GR III has a focal length of 28 millimetres, analogous to 35 mm, the GR IIIx has a focal length of 40 millimetres.
The camera still has an APS-C sensor with a resolution of 24.8 megapixels. The speed has also remained the same at f/2.8 despite the lens change. The body is three millimetres deeper. The weight is slightly higher, but still hardly worth mentioning at around 260 grams. After switching on, the compact camera is supposed to be ready to shoot within 0.8 seconds – the best prerequisite for snapshots on the street. However, the photographer has to do without motif programmes but has complete creative freedom thanks to manual setting options.
