With the ZV-1F, Sony primarily targets vloggers who want to capture their daily experiences on video as quickly as possible and publish them on the Internet. A large, heavy SLR would be less suitable for the purpose than this compact camera, which measures only about 10.5 x 6.0 x 4.6 centimetres and weighs around 256 grams. A Tessar T* lens from Zeiss with a speed of f/2.0 is supposed to ensure sharp, clear pictures. It is a wide-angle fixed focal length with a focal length of 20 millimetres. Zooming is, therefore, not possible. A directional three-capsule microphone is supposed to ensure a clean sound. A detachable windscreen keeps noise out. Handling is facilitated by autofocus, an image stabiliser and several intelligent shooting modes.
