Smart features, solid picture and fair price

Pros

  • Bright display with 4K Resolutionsupports HDR10+ content
  • Smart TV, HbbTV & TV recordings
  • Three HDMI ports, integrated Bluetooth module

Cons

  • no Dolby Vision
  • no programme change during TV recording
The low price of the Samsung UE50TU8500 is primarily due to its display technology. It is based on LCD/LED technology, which caot compete with the expensive OLED competition in terms of colour reproduction and viewing angle stability, but is pleasantly bright. The resolution is 4K, and video content in HLG, HDR10 and HDR10+ formats is supported. A pity in this context: Dolby Vision is missing, as usual for Samsung. Otherwise, the 50-inch offers tuners for reception via antea, cable and satellite, and of course, you can record programmes.Access to media libraries, apps and interactive content for live programmes (HbbTV) is also included. The whole thing is rounded off by three HDMI coections, Bluetooth and the possibility of voice control. The bottom line: a good package for the price.
