Aimed squarely at gamers, the iiyama G-Master GB3467WQSU carries a curved 34-inch VA panel at an Ultra Wide Quad HD definition, refreshed at 165 Hz with a headline-grabbing quoted response time of 0.4 ms. This review is based on the complete published test of the monitor, not on hands-on testing of our own.
Positioning
The GB3467WQSU-B1's panoramic VA panel displays 3440 x 1440 pixels across a 1.5-metre radius of curvature (1500R). It belongs to a newer generation of VA monitors claiming a 0.4 ms response — against the 1 ms customary for even the quickest VA panels — and supports a maximum refresh rate of 165 Hz with FreeSync and, by extension, G-Sync compatibility. The maker quotes 550 cd/m² peak brightness, a 3000:1 contrast ratio and 178° viewing angles, and rounds things out with fairly complete connectivity and welcome stand adjustments.
Design and Ergonomics
The design is very classical: well-finished matt black plastics everywhere, with only the Y-shaped foot hinting at the gaming intent. That foot is imposing — 55 cm wide and around 28 cm deep — though its slender branches free up a useful amount of desk space, and the airy shape leaves room for keyboard and mouse. Height adjusts across 13 cm and tilt from -3° to +20°. The screen does technically pivot to portrait, but only as a transport convenience: the stand is not tall enough for the panoramic panel to clear the desk when rotating, and the tipped-back portrait position it can reach holds little interest, especially on a curved panel — in practice, treat rotation as absent.
The rear is entirely granular matt black plastic of good quality, the connectors face downwards, VESA 100 x 100 mm mounting is available once the foot is removed, and a basic cable-management channel gathers the wires at the base of the arm. Connectivity is generous for the class: two HDMI inputs, two DisplayPort inputs, a headphone output and four USB 3.0 ports, plus two 5 W speakers — far from exceptional, but serviceable for system sounds and short videos. Iiyama has had the good idea of fitting a clickable four-way joystick for the on-screen display — much the most effective way to navigate menus — flanked by dedicated keys for source switching and volume, handy day to day, even if the menu structure itself is sometimes muddled. The OSD covers brightness, contrast, gamma, colour temperature, overdrive and FreeSync.
The Ultra Wide Quad HD definition remains as pleasant as ever: a comfortable workspace for productivity, and in games a sweet spot for modern graphics cards — though driving 165 frames per second at the native definition demands serious hardware; a GeForce RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6800 XT class card is a sensible minimum.
Colours and Contrast
The factory calibration deserves credit: the image is very faithful straight from the box, with an average delta E of 2.3, and grey levels perfectly reproduced thanks to a measured average gamma of 2.2 on a stable curve across the spectrum. Only the average colour temperature of 7400 K overshoots the 6500 K reference — with perfect stability — and switching the temperature preset to "warm" brings it to a measured 6340 K. With brightness lowered to obtain a white near 150 cd/m², those two adjustments alone improve fidelity further, to an average delta E of 1.7, with blue and red dropping below the perceptibility threshold of 3 and only green remaining above it. Probe calibration improves matters just slightly; it can easily be skipped.
The measured native contrast of 2860:1 delivers genuinely deep blacks — far beyond the roughly 1200:1 of typical IPS monitors, if a step short of the best VA panels, which exceed 4000:1. White uniformity is very good, measured at just 9% deviation across the 34-inch panel, with no perceptible brightness differences, no light leakage in the corners and no clouding on the tested sample. VA viewing angles hold up well, with little variation off-axis — a rare occurrence anyway on a curved panel designed to be used face-on.
Responsiveness
There is no pulse-width modulation governing brightness, so the panel is flicker-free, and a software blue-light reduction mode sits in the OSD. Adaptive sync operates between 48 and 165 Hz, and in operation fluidity is exemplary: no tearing, no micro-stutter. The measured persistence is 4.5 ms with overdrive set to 5 — the different overdrive levels have little to no visible effect — which places this among the most reactive VA monitors of its generation, level with the 240 Hz VA panels of Samsung's Odyssey G7 and G9, and nearly rivalling the quickest TN monitors measured at 3 ms while offering far superior viewing angles and contrast. Display lag of 10.1 ms at 60 Hz translates to a near-imperceptible delay between input and on-screen response.
Power Consumption
Set to a white of around 150 cd/m², the monitor draws roughly 32 W — a relative consumption of 75 W/m², comfortably below the 100 W/m² average of tested monitors. At minimum brightness (64 cd/m²) it uses 25 W; at maximum (412 cd/m² measured) 60 W.
Verdict
The G-Master GB3467WQSU-B1 is an excellent, highly versatile monitor that suits gamers and workers alike. The former enjoy faultless reactivity — the best recorded on a VA panel — 165 Hz and FreeSync; the latter savour the 34-inch workspace, the image quality of faithful colours and high contrast, and the careful ergonomics. Add the low energy consumption and four USB 3.0 ports, and it is very nearly a flawless performance.
