Pros
- IPS panel at a good price
- Very ergonomic stand
- Very narrow display edges
Cons
- Very few connections
The MSI PRO MP242P is an office monitor with a fair price-performance ratio. It offers solid picture quality due to the viewing-angle stable IPS panel technology. This ensures a decent colour representation, which, thanks to 99% sRGB colour space coverage, even allows for one or two photo edits in the hobby sector. With very narrow edges and an extremely flexible stand, the monitor is very well suited to be placed next to a second of its kind. You can adjust the panel to your sitting position at will – your shoulders and neck are spared. However, as expected, the screen is unsuitable for more demanding multimedia operations or gaming tasks. It comes with only two signal connections, one of which is a VGA socket that needs to be updated. An HDMI connection supports modern computers.
In addition, the panel’s luminosity shows further shortcomings: around 250 candelas could be higher. In direct sunlight, this can quickly become a problem. A USB hub would have been desirable for additional comfort.
